Authorities ready with master plan to demolish 4,363 houses from railway land in Haldwani

Nainital district administration has prepared a master plan to demolish 4,363 houses to remove encroachment from railway land in Haldwani as per the recent order issued by the Uttarakhand High Court.

The administration held a coordination meeting with the railway officials on Monday at the circuit house in Haldwani along with various administrative officers including Kumaon commissioner Deepak Rawat, Nainital district magistrate Dhiraaj Singh Garbyal and Nainital senior superintendent of police Pankaj Bhatt. The officials said that a detailed discussion was held in the meeting regarding the removal of railway encroachments following the instructions of the court.

According to them, a master plan has been prepared for the demolition of 4,363 houses to clear the encroachment from land belonging to the  railways. The administration in association with railways will start the work of removing encroachments from Wednesday. The work of pillar demarcation on the land would also be commenced on the same day, stated the officials. The administration will keep an eye on the encroachment site to monitor the area during the demolition of the houses using drone mounted cameras and video cameras, said the officials.

The administration has also coordinated with authorities concerned to make arrangements to maintain law and order during the removal of encroachments. The additional divisional railway manager (ADRM) Vivek Gupta said that a complete plan has been prepared by the administration in coordination with the State government to comply with HC order. He said that all equipment, machinery and other things required to remove the encroachments will be provided by the railways to the district administration.
