Authorities file FIRs over fake ration cards and Ayushman cards

The authorities registered FIRs after the Dehradun district administration found that 9,428 Ayushman cards were issued using inactive ration cards and 3,323 ration cards were made using false documents. Following complaints about ineligible beneficiaries, Dehradun district magistrate Savin Bansal initiated a verification drive of ration and Ayushman cards.

The administration discovered that 9,428 Ayushman cards had been created using 136,676 inactive ration cards. Bansal informed that the administration cancelled all 9,428 Ayushman cards and 3,323 ration cards found to be based on invalid or fake documents. FIRs have been filed at Kotwali Nagar and Rajpur police stations. The cases have been registered under sections 336(2), 336(3), and 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

He informed that the district has 3,87,954 total ration cards, of which 75,576 have been verified so far. The verification process is ongoing. He stated that the data for the inactive ration cards was provided to the State Health Agency by the district food and civil supplies office. The investigation into the issuance of Ayushman cards through inactive ration cards is continuing. The DM said that the administration suspects the involvement of organised groups in this irregularity and authorities will take further legal action.
