The Sports minister Rekha Arya asked the administration to speed up the process of granting out-of-turn government jobs to the medalists from the 38th National Games. She communicated this directive in a letter to the chief secretary on Monday.

She said that the athletes from Uttarakhand had performed exceptionally well in the National Games, achieving a remarkable milestone by securing a century of medals for the first time.

She said that while the cash prizes have already been distributed among the medal winners, the out-of-turn job allocation process is being delayed due to various technical issues.

“I have requested the CS to create 242 new posts within the Sports department to facilitate out-of-turn employment for the medal winners since previous attempts to place athletes in other departments have not been successful,” she said. She emphasised the importance of providing these athletes with opportunities and adequate facilities for their training and participation

in sports competitions.

The letter said that apart from these major posts, 544 posts, required to run 23 sports academies, should also be created soon.
