Army undertakes Pithoragarh to Adi Kailash cycling expedition

In order to commemorate World Bicycle Day on June 3 and World Environment Day on June 5, Kumaon battalion under the aegis of Panchshul Brigade started a 10-day cycling expedition from Pithoragarh to Adi Kailash with the aim of promoting adventure in the army while showcasing the rich history, diverse landscapes, hidden gems of religious tourist attractions and inception of new vibrant villages along the border areas in the Kumaon region. The cycling expedition was flagged off by the Panchshul Brigade commander brigadier SPS Chouhan on Friday. Spanning over 10 days covering challenging terrain and breathtaking landscapes the expedition team consisting of one officer, one junior commissioned officer and fifteen other ranks will pass important religious tourism sites including Om Parvat, Kailash Mansarovar route, recently nominated vibrant village of Gunji  culminating at Adi Kailash a revered destination for pilgrims globally.
