Army team departs to clear snow from Ghangharia to Hemkund

After celebrating the festival of Baisakhi, the jawans of the Indian army left from Govindghat for Ghangharia. The group of army men under the leadership of Subedar Jagsir and Havildar Malkit Singh will undertake the task of clearing snow off the path from Ghangharia to Hemkund Sahib.

The portals of the Hemkund Sahib Gurudwara are slated to be reopened for devotees on May 22 for which the Hemkund Sahib trust has started its preparations. After attending prayers at the Govindghat Gurudwara on the occasion of Baisakhi, the team of army jawans left for Ghangharia on Thursday. The Gurudwara manager Sewa Singh expressed gratitude to the army soldiers. The Hemkund Sahib trust vice chairman Narendrajit Singh Bindra said that Sewadars of the Gurudwara are also accompanying the team of the army jawans to Ghangharia. He further said that devotees are making inquiries about the pilgrimage consistently. Considering this, a large number of pilgrims are expected to visit the Hemkund Sahib Gurudwara this year, he added.
