Trivendra Rawat lays foundation stone for Bhandaribagh ROB

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat on Sunday performed the Bhumi Pujan and laid the foundation stone for the construction of the much awaited Railway Over Bridge (ROB) at Bandaribagh in Dehradun.

 The ROB will link Bhandaribagh with Kargi Chowk and Mahant Indresh Hospital. Incurring an approximate cost of Rs 43.16 crore, the ROB will have a length of 779 meters. Two years target has been fixed for its construction.  

Addressing the gathering on the ocassion, Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat said the need for this Bhandaribagh ROB was being felt for quite some time and asserted that it will now come up shortly. He said the ROB will be of great benefit for locals as well as tourists.

He said the network of roads and bridges has been in the state in nearly the last four years. He also disclosed that an amount of Rs 630 crore has been allotted for beautification of roads in the state this year, which is three times more than last year.

Rawat said efforts are on to ease out the traffic pressure on the internal roads of the Dehradun city and thus bypass roads are being constructed. He said works are also taking place in the direction of setting up of Neo Metro in Dehradun and hoped people would get this facility in next five to seven years.    

He said the state government was laying special focus on basic amenities like water and electricity. He said drinking water connections are being provided in the rural areas just for one rupee. “Over fourteen lakh sixty thousand rural houses are to be connected with the drinking water pipeline under the scheme and so far six lakh rural households have benefited from it”, he said.

Union Minister for Human Resource Development Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Dharampur MLA Vinod Chamoli, Dehradun Mayor Sunil Uniyal Gama and State BJP Vice President Anil Goyal were prominent present on the occasion.
