NHM launches a fortnight-long anti-diarrhea campaign

The fortnight-long anti-diarrhea campaign has been launched by  Mission Director National Health Mission ( NHM), Yugal Kishore Pant at IRTD Auditorium here on Friday. Addressing the gathering, he said that the objective of the campaign is to create public awareness for the prevention of diarrhea. Highlighting the consequences of diarrhea, he said that the children affected by it face the threat of malnutrition and it affects their mental and physical growth too.  Calling the ASHA workers present there as representatives of Director General Health and NHM, Pant said that they should work dedicatedly for creating awareness in the society. The director, medical health, Dr. Amita Upreti said that 15.99 lakh ORS  packets and 15.84 lakh Zinc tablets have been distributed in the government and private hospitals and also in all the Anganwadi Kendras. The secretary of the Uttarakhand Red Cross Society and first DG Health of the state, Dr. I S Pal said that ORS is a life-saving potion and the parents should keep it in their houses to prevent dehydration in the children down with diarrhea. He suggested that the NHM should include Red Cross in the ambit of its activities in the state. The chief medical officer ( CMO) Dehradun, Dr. S K Gupta said that the Asha workers hold the key for the success of the campaign. Speaking on the occasion, the chief medical superintendent ( CMS) of Gandhi Centenary Eye Hospital, Dr. B C Ramola said that by drinking clean water, maintaining sanitation and keeping personal hygiene, one can prevent such diseases. read more post… Saturday, 29 September 2018 | PNS | Dehradun–
