Nutritious fodder would be provided to cattle owners with the help of cooperative committees under the scheme

The Union home minister Amit Shah would inaugurate the ambitious Mukhyamantri Ghasiyari Kalyan Yojana (MGKY) in Dehradun in the last days of October. In the first phase the scheme would be launched in four mountainous districts of Pauri, Rudraprayag, Almora and Champawat. Under the scheme nutritious fodder would be provided to the cattle owners with the help of cooperative committees. The cooperatives minister Dhan Singh Rawat reviewed the scheme in a meeting with the officers of the Cooperative department in Dehradun on Sunday. The Minister said that the department has made all the preparations for the launch of the scheme. He informed that the cattle feed (Silage) in the vacuum pack bags of 25 – 30 kg would be provided to cattle rearers at concessional prices. The Silage has been prepared using green fodder, corn and dry fodder.

The minister claimed that the MGKY would prove to be a blessing for the women as it would reduce the load of fodder from their heads.

The minister said that the feed would increase the milk output of the cattle by 15 to 20 per cent. In the meeting Rawat reviewed the preparation of the programme in which Union Home minister Amit Shah would be the chief guest. Rawat directed the officers that the protocol of the union home minister should be kept in mind while making the preparations. He said that the final touches would be made once the union ministry of home finalises the date of the home minister’s programme.

Rawat added that apart from launching the MGKY, the union home and cooperatives minister would also inaugurate computerisation of all the 670 Primary Agriculture Credit Society (PACS) committees and distribute cheques to the beneficiaries of Deendayal Upadhyaya Kisan Kalyan Yojna.

The meeting was attended by district magistrate of Dehradun R Rajesh Kumar, DIG Janmaijay Khanduri, registrar cooperatives Anand Swarup and others.
