MNREGA- Minister pulls up officers for slow pace of works

Expressing his unhappiness on the slow pace of the works under the MNREGA in the state the rural development minister Swami Yatishwaranand has asked the officers concerned to expedite the works. The minister took a review meeting of the MNREGA works with the officers of Rural development department at Yamuna colony office on Monday. He said that the slow pace of MNREGA is not acceptable and directed the department secretary to expedite the work.

He directed that in the first phase ten villages of Haridwar district should be made model villages and a campaign should be launched to ensure that every household has toilets in all the villages.

He said that every CDO and BDO should take interest in MNREGA works and secretary rural development should organise camps at his level. He said that the documents should be tabled to him on increasing the stipend of MNREGA workers from Rs 2000 to Rs 3000. The secretary Rural development S S Murugeshan and other officers were present on the occasion.
