All edu institutes should have scout & guide units – Minister

The units of Bharat scouts and guides would be compulsorily raised in all the educational institutions of the State. An order regarding this was given by the education minister Dhan Singh Rawat while presiding over a meeting in the education directorate in Dehradun on Wednesday. In the meeting the minister took a review of the activities of Bharat Scouts and Guides. 

The minister said that apart from studies the students should have knowledge of discipline and social values for their all round development. He said that in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, a recommendation on compulsion of scouts and guides in every institute has been made. 

The minister said that in view of the NEP 2020 guidelines, the scouts and guide units would be compulsorily raised in all educational institutes including the schools coming under the Madarsas board and the Sanskrit education in the State. He added that the units of rover rangers would be set up in all the institutes of higher education in the State. The scouts, guides, rovers rangers would be included in the anti addiction, TB eradication, Namami Gange and other programmes.

 The meeting was attended by the director general (DG) school education and patron of Bharat scouts and guides Bansidhar Tiwari, State chief commissioner Seema Jaunsari and others.
