Light to moderate rain was witnessed in many places with hail also being reported in some parts of the State on Sunday, resulting in below normal temperatures in various places. Similar weather is expected on Monday with thunderstorms, hail, windy conditions and intense spells of rain likely in various areas. The Meteorological Centre has issued an alert regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied with lightning/hail/ intense spells of rain and gusty wind (40-50 kmph) likely to occur at isolated places in the mountain districts today.
The centre has also issued a yellow warning (Watch) regarding the possibility of thunderstorms ccompanied with lightning/gusty wind (40-50 kmph) likely to occur at isolated places in Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts of the State. Apart from this, light to moderate rain is likely to occur at many places in the mountain districts and at a few places in the plain districts of the State on Monday.
The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a partly cloudy sky. One or two spells of light to moderate rain/thunderstorms accompanied with lightning/gusty wind (40-50 kmph) are also likely to occur here. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 33 degrees Celsius and 19 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.
Meanwhile, light to moderate rain was reported in various areas with 56.2 millimetres in Mussoorie, 15 millimetres in Ranichauri, 11.5 millimetres in Mukteshwar, seven millimetres each at Jolly Grant and Ranikhet, 3.8 millimetres in New Tehri and 2.9 millimetres in Dehradun. The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded on Sunday were 34.7 degrees Celsius and 21.4 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 33.3 degrees Celsius and 20.6 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 18.1 degrees Celsius and 9.6 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar, 24.4 degrees Celsius and 10.6 degrees Celsius in New Tehri.
