The advent of the monsoon in Uttarakhand a few days ago has started exerting its impact on the road network especially in the mountainous regions. According to official sources, at least 31 motor roads were blocked in various parts of the State on Saturday evening.

In Haridwar district, all the national and state highways are open for traffic. Two rural motor roads are blocked in Bageshwar district while eight rural motor roads are blocked in Pithoragarh district. The respite from heavy rains on Saturday may have contributed to normalcy in the road network in some districts.

Even as efforts are underway to clear the blocked roads, the heavy rain forecast at some places in a few districts on Sunday may alter the situation further.
