Administration seals illegal mobile towers in densely populated areas after complaints

PIONEER NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun
The Dehradun district authorities have sealed dozens of high frequency mobile towers that were reportedly installed without approval in densely populated residential areas. The action was taken after local residents in areas such as Bahadurpur, Selaqui, Rajawala Road and Herbertpur’s Rambagh Colony lodged formal complaints. They alleged that the towers were erected in violation of safety norms and without necessary permissions, raising concerns about potential radiation risks to children, elderly people and other vulnerable groups in the neighborhood.
Acting on these complaints, the district administration carried out a sealing operation on the towers that were found to be in violation of guidelines. The officials stated that any construction of towers, even the installation of base structures or support fixtures like pegs, without prior approval will face immediate sealing action.
The officials informed that the operation is part of a series of strict measures being implemented by the district administration. Officials said that such actions aim to address public concerns and ensure that unauthorised activities in residential zones are brought to a halt. They reiterated that public sentiment will be respected and that enforcement will continue against all rule violations across the district.
