Administration bans meat sale at Kathapir mela

PIONEER NEWS SERVICE/ Haridwar

The five-day Kathapir fair held in Pathri police station area in Haridwar district will now be completely free from the sale of meat. The order of the district magistrate, Mayur Dixit
has been issued in this matter.
The order stated that there is a Hindu majority population around the fair area and both Hindus and Muslims participate in the fair.

Notably, problems arose over the past few years around the presence of meat shops and sale of meat within the fair area. Keeping this in view, the district administration has banned meat sale in the designated fair area. This would facilitate peace and participation of all communities in the fair, the administration said.
