The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) held a protest outside the office of Dehradun Smart City Limited (DSCL) on Monday to express its objection to the delay in works under the Smart City project. The State vice-president of AAP Uma Sisodia said that there are potholes on almost every road of the city where the DSCL started its construction work. She said that there is no proper way of completing a work under DSCL and several of its works remain unfinished which causes grave inconvenience to locals, not just for days but months. People understand slight inconvenience during such projects and cooperate accordingly but DSCL is only wasting the time and money of citizens, said Sisodia.

The Garhwal media in-charge of AAP, Ravindra Singh Anand said that the smart city project is worth about Rs 1,600 crore and the officials have already claimed to have spent Rs 600 crore in the works so far. “The locals are trying to figure out where the officials actually spent this huge amount which is hidden from everybody else,” said Anand. He said that several significant works are yet to be finished under the project like proper drainage system, drinking water system, smart toilets and smart schools among others which will possibly take at least one more year if DSCL continues to work at its current pace. The party members said that AAP will stage a massive protest against DSCL if the officials fail to ensure the completion of the pending work within 10 days.
