The book ‘Unheard Emotions’ by Moni Singh was launched on the weekend. In the book, the author talks about the double standards that society has created when it comes to men and women.
She highlights the issue of society being patriarchal through a fiction story- a story which explores the sides of different lives and lifestyles that are not quite known. She makes the readers wonder about how the society would be if roles were reversed- if the birth of a female child was celebrated and the birth of a male child was denounced. The author writes of hardships, societal practices and certain hidden customs that are lost in the midst of development, stories that are lost, unspoken and unheard.
