The retail price of Aanchal milk has been raised by Rs two per litre from May 4. The price hike comes a few days after other popular milk brands raised their retail price. The decision to raise the prince of Aanchal milk was taken by the Nainital Dugdh Utpadak Sahakari Sangh Limited (NDUSSL) here. Following the change in rates, the standard milk earlier costing Rs 66 will cost Rs 68 while the half-litre pack earlier costing Rs 29 will now cost Rs 30. In addition to this, the price of cow milk has also been increased by Rs two per litre while the price of ghee has been raised by Rs 20 per litre, that of khoya by Rs 10 per litre and that of butter by Rs 20.

NDUSSL chairman Mukesh Bora said that the rates of Aanchal milk products have been raised after Mother Dairy and Amul raised their rates in the recent past. He said that a new modern milk plant is being established at Aanchal Dairy in Lalkuan. This plant will have a capacity for packaging of more than 1.50 lakh litres of milk daily. Bora further said that Aanchal is Uttarakhand government’s brand and there is considerable demand for its products across the State. The NDUSSL supplies more than one lakh litres of milk and other dairy products in the State every day while about 1.35 lakh litres of milk reaches it from the dairy committees in Nainital district. The increase in milk rates will also benefit the dairy producers, he said.
