The nine-day training programme ‘Yoga Olympiad Orientation and Training Programme’ concluded at Patanjali Research Institute and Wellness, Haridwar. The training programme started on January 22 and was based on yoga philosophy, psychology and spirituality, providing guidance on inner peace and spiritual contemplation, said the organisers. Importantly, representatives from the Education department of the Government of Sikkim participated in this programme.
Presiding over the programme, Acharya Balkrishna said that yoga is a holistic physical, mental and spiritual practice from ancient India. “The aim of yoga is to establish balance between mind, body and spirit, leading to self-realisation, mental peace and salvation. Yoga improves overall health, reduces stress, and helps foster a disciplined lifestyle,” he added.
On this occasion, Yoga Guru Swami Ramdev said that naturopathy is a drug-free treatment method that activates the body’s natural healing ability. “In this, the root causes of diseases are treated through balanced diet, herbs, water and mud therapy, yoga, pranayama, fasting, sun therapy and acupuncture,” he added. He further said that although naturopathy is an effective complementary treatment method advice from an experienced doctor is very important in serious diseases. He also highlighted the possibilities of joint efforts between Patanjali and the Sikkim government.
Speaking about Patanjali Wellness, Dr Vinita explained that adopting Ayurveda and a natural lifestyle can maintain a healthy body and mind.
The delegates also visited Parmarth Niketan and Geeta Bhawan in Rishikesh. The delegates from Sikkim visited the Patanjali Gaushala, Gurukulam, Acharyakulam, Herbal Garden and Research Centre.
