Parmarth Niketan celebrates Yoga Day
Rishikesh: In the presence of ambassadors and high commissioners from over 25 countries, Parmarth Niketan celebrated the 11th International Day of Yoga on Saturday. The president, Parmarth Niketan, Chidanand Saraswati and Sadhvi Bhagawati presided over the Common Yoga Protocol session.
Addressing the session, Chidanand Saraswati said, “When we take care of ourselves, we begin to care for the Earth. This is the divine message of Indian culture — Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, the whole world is one family.” He added: “Yoga is an ancient spiritual, physical, and mental discipline and a priceless gift from India to the world. The word Yoga means union: the merging of body, mind and consciousness into the Divine Oneness.”
Sadhvi Bhagawati shared that yoga is a divine practice to bring balance to daily life which enhances efficiency in action. “Yoga is not just an exercise to make the body flexible — it is a lifestyle, a way of being. It harmonises body, mind, and soul, allowing one to remain balanced in all circumstances. Yoga improves focus, patience and decision-making, enabling success in action. This is the true power of yoga — inner peace amidst outer chaos,” she added.
Aside from the distinguished foreign guests, students and teachers from various schools, institutions, colleges, and universities participated in the Common Yoga Protocol.
Yoga Day celebrated at GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology
Pantnagar: A Yoga programme was organised at the GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology in Pantnagar to mark the 11th International Yoga Day.
The State minister of Agriculture, Ganesh Joshi participated in the group yoga practice along with the professors, employees and students of the university and citizens from Udham Singh Nagar district. In his address, he described yoga as an essential need of life. “Yoga not just empowers an individual but empowers the society and the nation as well,” he said.
The vice-chancellor of the university, Manmohan Singh Chauhan recounted the scientific benefits of yoga, ensuring one’s complete development. “Yoga will become the basis for building a developed India by making the youth healthy, strong and positive,” he added.
