893 Anganwadi workers & assistants in 2 districts receive appointment letters

The Women Empowerment and Child Development (WECD) minister, Rekha Arya handed over appointment letters to 893 Anganwadi workers and their assistants in Rudraprayag and Pauri districts at Swami Manmanthan Auditorium within the Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna University’s Chauras campus in Srinagar on Saturday. Of the total appointments, 196 were issued to Anganwadi workers and assistants in Rudraprayag district while 697 went to those in Pauri district.

 Speaking on the occasion, Arya said that the selection process has prioritised highly educated women and girls as Anganwadi workers and assistants. “I am firmly of the view that this will enhance the quality of education and nutrition for the children,” she said.

Invoking Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Developed India by 2047, she said that the Anganwadi workers have a significant role to play in this transformational vision.   

She also said that upon finishing the recruitment process, the WECD has become one of the largest departments in terms of human resources. The current staff count in the department has reached approximately 40,000, she informed.

It is worth noting that the department has recently hired a total of 7,052 persons across the State, including 6,330 Anganwadi assistants and 722 Anganwadi workers.
