Taking cognizance of the complaints of late arrival and absenteeism without prior permission, the Uttarakhand government has decided to implement the biometric system of attendance in the hospitals and medical colleges of the State.
The State Health minister Dhan Singh Rawat has directed the director general (DG) State Health services and the director Medical Education department to install biometric machines in all the hospitals and medical colleges.
The minister said that biometric attendance machines will be compulsorily installed in all district hospitals, sub district hospitals, joint hospitals, primary health centres, community health centres, sub centres and all medical colleges of the State.
Rawat said that clear orders for installation of the machines have been given to the officers concerned. He said that complaints of absenteeism and late arrival of the doctors and paramedical staff are common and it creates hindrances in smooth functioning of the hospitals. The patients are the worst sufferers of this tendency.
Rawat added that all the chief medical officers (CMO) have been directed to take strict action against the doctors and paramedical staff who are absent from their duties without prior information. He said that apart from the CMOs and ACMOs, the officers of the district administration will also undertake regular inspection of the health centres. The minister averred that the officers concerned have been directed to deduct salary and take other punitive action on the absentee employees.
