Weather watch: Rain, thunderstorm expected in most parts of U’khand

Though the date of monsoon’s advent in Uttarakhand is yet to be officially announced, the rainy spell with varying intensity has been continuing across the State.

The State meteorological centre has predicted light to moderate rain and thunderstorms at most places in Kumaon and several districts of Garhwal region on June 19. Isolated areas in Bageshwar and Nainital are expected to witness heavy rainfall. The forecast also includes thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds ranging from 40 to 50 kmph at isolated places across the State.

The weather is expected to remain partly to generally cloudy in Dehradun, with one or two spells of light to moderate rainfall and thunderstorms. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 33 degree celsius and 24 degree celsius respectively. Dehradun recorded a maximum of 32.5 degree celsius and a minimum of 24.6 degree celsius, both slightly below normal on Wednesday.

The meteorological centre has issued a yellow alert for Uttarakhand, urging residents to remain cautious, especially in vulnerable districts Bageshwar and Nainital.
