Control room resolves 138 water supply complaints in Dehradun

The control room set up on April 14 to solve water supply complaints in Dehradun has received 142 complaints so far out of which, 138 have been resolved, the district magistrate Savin Bansal said. The DM has formed a committee under the leadership of the additional district magistrate to monitor complaints. Seven department officials have also been posted at the control room 24/7 since April 20. Informing about the complaints, Bansal said that when complaints about disrupted water supply came from Canal Road, the executive engineer investigated and found a faulty valve in Gabbar Basti. Repair work restored the water supply. In Ganga Enclave, the pipeline was damaged during laying of power cables by UPCL (ADB) on June 11, causing the disconnection of Ekta Vihar tube well. The department concerned carried out repairs and water supply is now back to normal. He further informed that the pipeline damage occurred during pipeline and power-cable laying by GAIL and UPCL at GMS Road. The officials ensured repairs and restored water supply. He said that the control room has been promptly responding to all complaints and acting accordingly. He said that the officials are monitoring water crisis areas and ensuring uninterrupted power supply to tube wells and water stations. The Jal Sansthan and Jal Nigam have circulated their toll-free numbers for complaints. The control room’s toll-free numbers 01352726066 and 1077 are also receiving complaints for immediate action. Bansal has appealed to people to avoid wasting water and to contribute to conserving it. He directed officials to resolve complaints without delay. The administration aims to provide uninterrupted clean water to every home as a matter of service, Bansal added.
