DU to conduct UG & PG courses’ entrance exam on June 22

PIONEER NEWS SERVICE | Dehradun

Following the completion of the registration process for undergraduate and postgraduate courses, Doon University will hold the entrance examination to shortlist candidates on June 22. The university’s registrar, Durgesh Dimri said that the university has received approximately 4,500 applications from students interested in these programmes. Notably, the admission registration for both UG and PG programmes concluded on June 3.

He also informed that along with the UG courses, the registration period has closed for three PG courses—Psychology, Economics and English—as admission to these programmes is based on an entrance examination. However, registration for other postgraduate courses is still open on the university’s official website. Students can register for these courses, as admissions will be determined based on merit instead of an entrance exam, he said.

He further said that with the entrance examination for the aforementioned UG and three above-mentioned PG courses slated on June 22, preparations are currently continuing in full swing.

“There will be four examination centres- one each in Dehradun, Haldwani, Delhi and Lucknow. Further, the students who have registered for UG and PG courses will soon be able to download their admit cards from the university’s official website. Results from the entrance examination are expected to be announced in the first or second week of July. This year, there are 910 seats allocated for UG and 650 for PG programmes. Following the announcement of results, the college admission process will commence on July 17,” he added.

The Registrar informed that the number of applications received for admission this year have increased as compared to last year. “This year marks the introduction of an MA in Hindu Studies programme at the university, featuring 20 available seats for students. As it is a new initiative, the registration process for admission is still open on the official website,” he said.

Dimri informed that a counselling session had recently been held for students interested in enrolling in the B Tech course, resulting in the selection of 47 students. Admissions for the B Tech programme were based on JEE Mains results. A similar selection process will be followed for the BSc programme with counselling sessions planned for that as well. The university has officially reserved 40 seats for the BSc programme and 80 for the B Tech programme this year.  “Additional counselling sessions will be organised for both courses to fill the remaining reserved seats,” Dimri added.
