Dehradun and other parts of the State woke up to thunderstorms and rain on Monday which was followed by a sunny afternoon. However, The State Meteorological Centre has once again issued a warning regarding the possibility of heavy rain likely to occur at isolated places in Dehradun, Pauri, Tehri and Rudraprayag districts on Tuesday. Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning/intense to very intense spells of rain/gusty winds (40- 50 kmph) are likely to occur at isolated places in the mountainous districts while thunderstorms accompanied with lightning/gusty winds (40-50 kmph) are likely to occur at isolated places in the plain districts of the State today. Apart from this, light to moderate rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at many places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, Bageshwar, Pithoragarh and Nainital and at a few places in Almora, Champawat, Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts on Tuesday.
The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a generally cloudy sky. One/two spells of intense rain/thunderstorms accompanied with lightning/gusty wind (40-50 kmph) are likely to occur in some areas towards the evening/night. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 34 degrees Celsius and 20 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.
The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various places on Monday were 32.9 degrees Celsius and 19.8 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 37 degrees Celsius and 24.9 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 23.7 degrees Celsius and 13,8 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 19.6 degrees Celsius and 13.2 degrees Celsius in New Tehri. Light to moderate rain was reported in various parts of the State with 3.1 millimetres in Dehradun, 4.4 millimetres in Tehri, 8.3 millimetres in Mussoorie, 1,5 millimetres in Pithoragarh and 1.5 millimetre in Mukteshwar.
