NDUSSL marks World Milk Day in Haldwani

The Nainital Dugdh Utpadak Sahakari Sangh Limited (NDUSSL) marked World Milk Day on Sunday. The Haldwani mayor Gajraj Singh Bisht, former Lalkuan MLA Navin Dumka, deputy director Sanjay Upadhyay and NDUSSL chairman Mukesh Bora jointly inaugurated the consumers meet held on the occasion.

Bisht said that Aanchal dairy had played a major role in bringing the white revolution in Uttarakhand. The people of the State use the milk and dairy products of Aanchal with trust and enjoy them, he said. Addressing the gathering, Dumka recalled Varghese Kurien’s role in heralding the white revolution in India and exhorted the locals and villagers to follow the path shown by him. Informing the gathering about the achievements of the NDUSSL, Upadhyay said that it will further enhance its production and products in the future.

Expressing his views, Bora said that milk is a complete food and stressed on its importance for human health. He emphasised on the role played by milk in the proper development of children, strengthening bones and building immunity against various ailments.

In addition to being a wholesome drink, milk is also the backbone of the rural economy which provides livelihood to lakhs of people, he said. NDUSSL general manager Anurag Sharma informed the gathering about milk, ghee, paneer and various other dairy products. A number of dairy producers and those involved in the dairy business attended the event.
