SSP warns against complacency, involvement in illegal activity

Dehradun senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh has issued a warning to police station in-charges found observing complacency in their tasks. He further said that in case any police personnel is found involved in land dealings or any illegal activity, a case will be registered against the personnel concerned and strict legal action will be taken.

The SSP issued various instructions while chairing the monthly crime meeting with his subordinate officials. He directed that the station in-charges will appoint police personnel on a rotation basis at the interdistrict/interstate checkposts falling under their jurisdiction. The duties of the personnel will be rotated every seven to 10 days in order to bring about transparency in their working.  The Rishikesh superintendent of police and circle officer have been directed to form special teams and take effective action against the complaints of illegal liquor sale in Rishikesh and nearby areas. Further, a case will be registered and strict legal action will be taken against any police personnel found involved in such activity, the SSP warned.

Further, all the police station in-charges were directed to take swift action on complaints received from the CM helpline and through other portals. Singh warned that the responsibility of the police personnel responsible and the station in-charge concerned will be fixed in case of complacency in the investigation of such applications. The SSP further instructed that complaints received through social media regarding the violation of traffic regulations should be taken cognisance of swiftly and immediate action should be taken, and the challans in such cases should be served to the traffic rule violators in question.

Stating that the police have taken more effective action against traffic rule violations this year as compared to the past, Singh said that this action should be continued. Additionally, communication should be established with the Traffic Directorate to ensure effective action against those violating the traffic rules on national highways. Speed radar guns should be sought for the police stations and posts on the highways so as to enable more effective action against those violating the rules.

The station in-charges were also directed to hold public hearings in their areas to resolve issues of the general public. Senior officers should listen to the problems of the citizens and ensure their swift redressal. Further, all circle officers should periodically interact with the personnel in all police stations in their circle, learn about their issues and communicate this to their seniors so that these issues too can be resolved in a time-bound manner, the SSP said.

Considering the Char Dham Yatra and tourist season currently underway, the SSP directed that all arrangements should be kept updated with deployment of adequate police force on the Char Dham routes and tourist spots. Additionally, the verification of tenants/labourers and domestic helps from other States should be conducted with regular campaigns in the district.  Singh also directed all the Cos to conduct surprise checks to ascertain the response time of the police in their circle while also ensuring all necessary steps to further improve the response time. Police personnel who delay without any valid reason after receiving information should be identified, he added.
