Rainy weather continues, more forecast in parts of State today

The southwest monsoon has set in over Kerala on May 24, against the normal date of June 1. Though the monsoon is yet to arrive in Uttarakhand, rainy weather continued in parts of the State on the weekend with both the maximum and minimum temperatures dropping by a few notches in various areas. Similar weather is expected with some regions of the State forecast to receive rain on Monday too.

The State Meteorological Centre has issued a yellow warning regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied with lightning/intense spells of rain/gusty winds (30-40 kmph) likely to occur at isolated places in the mountain districts of the State. Apart from this, light to moderate rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at many places in Nainital and Dehradun districts and at a few places in the remaining districts of the State today.

The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a mainly clear to partly cloudy sky. Very light to light rain/thunderstorms accompanied with lightning/gusty wind (40-50 kmph) are also likely to occur in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperature are likely to be about 33 degrees Celsius and 22 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.

Meanwhile, the maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Sunday were 27.8 degrees Celsius and 20.8 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 31.6 degrees Celsius and 21.4 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 16.7 degrees Celsius and 10.4 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 17.5 degrees Celsius and 12.2 degrees Celsius in New Tehri. Trace to light rain was reported in various places with 0.8 millimetre in Dehradun, 1.6 millimetre in Pantnagar, 1.1 millimetre in Mukteshwar, 4.2 millimetres in Mussoorie, 10 millimetres in Purola and one millimetre in New Tehri.
