Hi-tech Suman Library: Nurturing students’ competitive exam hope

PIONEER NEWS SERVICE/ New Tehri
The renovation of the century-old Sri Dev Suman district government library located at Baurari, New Tehri began about two years ago on the instruction of the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to develop all the learning centres into modern libraries equipped with facilities to help children preparing for competitive examinations. The district administration went all-out not only to new-make the district library but to build libraries in every block of Tehri district with focus trained on the bright future of the youngsters. Now, the success of a student in the Uttarakhand Subordinate Service Selection Commission Group-C written examination who prepared on the online books available at the district library has redoubled the administration’s zeal.
Vipin Jogiyal from Dhungidhar village ascribed his success to the digital books available at the high-tech Sridev Suman District Library along with his hard work and parental support. “I failed twice but undaunted, I carried on. I tasted success in my third attempt. I prepared through the e-books which I availed through internet and Wi-Fi connectivity. I hope that the students preparing for competitive exams should avail the online books and internet facility being provided at the library,” he said.
The library in-charge Subhadra Negi said appreciatively: “
Vipin started coming to the library from August 2024. He was a regular visitor and he took full advantage of the online registered books and internet facilities of the library. After its renovation, it is drawing increasing number of children preparing for competitive exams. We hope they will emulate Vipin and succeed, too,” the librarian said.
