Congress questions BJP’s Tiranga Yatra

PIONEER NEWS SERVICE | Dehradun

The Congress has said that the Bharatiya Janata Party should explain the reasons for declaration of ceasefire between India and Pakistan by President of United States, Donald Trump before embarking on the Tiranga Yatra in the country.

Interacting with the media persons at the headquarters of the State Congress on Tuesday, Pradesh Congress Committee vice president Suryakant Dhasmana said that US president Trump was first to announce ceasefire between India and Pakistan and then he offered mediation on the Kashmir issue between the two countries. Dhasmana said, ” Before the address to the nation by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the US President addressed the world claiming that he forced India and Pakistan to agree on ceasefire.”

He said that PM Modi and BJP owe an explanation to the people of the country on these three statements of the US president. The country should know as to who is responsible for the foreign and defence policies of the country, India or US president, he asked.

Dhasmana said that the issue is associated with the prestige and dignity of the country and its security.

He said that it is an old habit of PM Modi and BJP to use the Army and martyrs for electoral gains.  Dhasmana added that the circumstances in which the ceasefire was announced and the manner in which internationalisation of the Kashmir issue has occurred raise many questions and PM Modi should come forward to give an answer.

He said that the Congress party took out Tiranga Yatra to boost the morale of the armed forces at a time when they were taking on the enemies on the border. Dhasmana said that BJP in an attempt to take credit of success of the operation Sindoor has decided to take out Tiranga Yatra from Wednesday.
