PIONEER NEWS SERVICE/ Uttarkashi

In latest news from Uttarakhand, the district magistrate, Uttarkashi, Meherban Singh Bisht announced that the operation of the solid waste management plants has started in Gangotri and Janakichatti to make Char Dham Yatra 2025 clean, safe and environmentally friendly. Through these plants, processing, classification and scientific disposal of solid waste (garbage) generated on the Yatra route would be ensured, he said, adding that
the process of garbage segregation is being actively carried out by the nagar panchayat and the district panchayat. “In this process, dry and wet garbage is being separated and the dry garbage such as plastic bottles and wrappers are being compacted by special machines which will make their transportation and recycling easier. At the same time, wet garbage is being converted into manure with the help of bio-compactors which will be used in local parks and green areas,” the DM informed.  .
