The governor, lieutenant general (retd) Gurmit Singh launched the school dashboard created by Veer Madho Singh Bhandari Uttarakhand Technical University (VMSBUTU), for all the schools across the State. This launch took place during the Praveshotsav-2025 programme organised by the Education department at the Raj Bhavan on Friday.

On the governor’s instructions, VMSBUTU developed the school dashboard to provide comprehensive information about all government schools in the State in one accessible location. The dashboard includes complete details about 16,055 government schools located in 13 districts. It also enables the principal or headmaster of each school and the dashboard administrator to access and view information through their log-in credentials. Currently, details of all students and teachers from 16,055 schools in 95 blocks of 13 districts, along with infrastructure facilities, have been uploaded to the dashboard, allowing principals to modify the information as needed through their log-in.

Speaking on the occasion, Singh said that the launch of the school dashboard symbolises technological innovation in the state’s education system and represents an important step towards providing quality education to every child in Uttarakhand. The governor congratulated university, technical experts and educators for bringing the School Dashboard to fruition.

Appreciating the Praveshotsav initiative of the Education department, which aims to raise awareness about the importance of education among children and their parents, the governor noted that this joyous occasion is not merely an event but reflects a collective commitment to education. Each year, at the beginning of the academic session, the initiative helps welcome newly admitted students and guides them toward a bright future.

Additionally, the governor provided financial assistance to 13 centres of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Residential Schools. He highlighted these schools as unique institutions where children from underserved and underprivileged backgrounds receive education while staying in hostels. He stated that these schools are transforming the lives of orphans, homeless children and those from weaker sections of society who are deprived of educational opportunities for various reasons. The governor expressed that upgrading these hostels and expanding their capacity to accommodate students up to class 12 will be a visionary decision. The VMSBUTU vice chancellor Onkar Singh was also present on the occasion.
