The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) has issued a notice to Sunlight Company for failing to dispose of garbage at the solid waste management and recycling plant in Sheeshambada for processing.

The municipal chief health officer Dr Avinash Khanna said that during an inspection at the Kargi Secondary Transfer Station on Wednesday, it was observed that garbage has not been transported to Sheeshambada plant for several days, leading to a significant accumulation of waste at the transfer site. This pile-up has resulted in a foul odour and unhygienic conditions in the area which is creating nuisance for locals.

Taking serious note of the situation, MCD directed Sunlight Company to remove the waste within two working days. The notice further stated that failure to comply will result in lawful action under contractual terms and the company will be held solely responsible for the consequences. Besides this, the MCD also started fogging in various wards amid the dengue scare in the city.

Khanna said that the corporation has sent oil to all wards to ensure comprehensive fogging coverage. All supervisors were also instructed to submit lists for oil distribution to facilitate the process, he said.
