8 new dengue cases reported in Doon, total count rises to 110

With the monsoon season approaching in Uttarakhand, there has been a spike in dengue cases. On Monday, eight new dengue cases were reported in Dehradun district. The chief medical officer (CMO), Dehradun, Dr Manoj Kumar Sharma confirmed that these eight individuals had tested positive for the virus. Among them, two patients were admitted to Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, three to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh, one to Himalayan Hospital and two to Graphic Era Hospital. This brings the total number of confirmed dengue cases in the district to 110, comprising 62 cases from Dehradun and 48 from other districts or states.
Dr Sharma further said that there are currently 20 active dengue cases: 11 patients are receiving treatment at Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, two at Himalayan Hospital, two at AIIMS and four at Graphic Era Hospital while one is recuperating at home.
On Monday alone, a total of 171 dengue samples were collected which brings the total number of samples analysed to 7,038. Importantly, no dengue-related fatalities have been reported so far.
Further, on Monday, Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) and health department volunteers conducted 12, 339 home surveys to look for mosquito larvae. Among these inspections, 37 houses tested positive for larvae. To date, the health department has carried out 7, 45, 011 home surveys with 2,402 yielding positive results. Likewise, on Monday, ASHA workers and volunteers examined 72, 283 containers, discovering larvae in 41 of them. Overall, they have surveyed 47, 41, 776 containers, resulting in 2,941 proving positive for larvae.
To recall, in the light of the monsoon threat of dengue spike, the Health department directed ASHAs and volunteers to remain on high alert.
