The doctors of the Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital here have claimed to perform ultramodern Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) technique cardiac procedure to save the life of a 74 year old patient. As per the hospital authorities, this 74 year old resident of Dehradun was suffering from heart disease called Aortic Stenosis.
The Cath Lab Director of the hospital Dr Tanuj Bhatia carried out initial investigations and tests on the patient and in view of the old age and high risk of the surgical procedure; he took the decision of treating the patient by TAVR technique. In the procedure that lasted for three hours at the Cath Lab of the hospital, successful treatment of the patient was done. The authorities claim that the patient is healthy after the treatment and was discharged from the hospital after just two days after the procedure.
