6,76,809 children administered Albendazole in Dehradun

Deworming tablet Albendazole was administered to a total of 6,76,809 children aged one to 19 years in Dehradun district on the occasion of National Deworming day on Wednesday. The chief medical officer (CMO), Dr Manoj Kumar Sharma visited Shri Guru Nanak Doon Vale School on the day and administered Albendazole to the children.
During the event, he informed children about the importance of physical hygiene and provided them with Albendazole tablets. He engaged with the students, emphasising that maintaining good hygiene is crucial for a healthy life. A healthy body contributes to a healthy mind, which in turn enhances children’s academic performance and success.
He instructed the children on how to uphold their physical cleanliness, advising them to wash their hands with soap before meals and after using the toilet. The CMO also urged parents to ensure their children receive the Albendazole treatment, he said. The CMO added that children who were unable to take the medicine on October 8 for any reason will be given the medicine on the mop-up day, which is scheduled for October 15, 2025.
Additional CMO, Dr Nidhi Rawat said that Albendazole tablets will be administered in both government and private schools, as well as in Anganwadi centres in the district.
