Taking a stringent view of the absence of staff and gross mismanagement witnessed during his recent visit of sub district hospital Mussoorie, the secretary health, R Rajesh Kumar has issued a show cause notice to the Chief Medical Superintendent (CMS) of the hospital and sought explanation from the director general (DG) state health services. In the show cause notice issued to the CMS Dr Yatindra Singh, the Secretary said that the CMS was not present during his visit of which he was informed. Kumar said that Dr Singh was absent without giving any leave application or information to the DG health services. The Secretary said that many doctors and other staff members were absent from their duties without any information and the anger of the patients and their caretakers was clearly visible. Castigating the CMS for his act, Kumar said that only five medical officers (MOs) were seen out of 28 MOs deployed in the hospital during the visit. He said that it was found that patients were not getting benefit of any health schemes of the government and only 65 cards of Ayushman Bharat Yojana were made by the hospital.  In his notice, the secretary said that being a tourist destination, a large number of tourists visit Mussoorie and it is essential to equip the hospital with all facilities. The secretary has asked the CMS to reply to the notice without delay and ordered that his salary would get withheld if his reply is found unsatisfactory.

The secretary has also sought clarification from DG health on the absence of CMS, other staff and on other points. He said that six MOs were on PG leave without the approval of the administration.
