5th anniversary: Drug Free India awareness program held

To mark the fifth anniversary of Drug Free India Campaign, a public awareness programme was held on Tuesday. The district panchayat chairman Ramesh Chauhan, MLA Suresh Chauhan and district magistrate Prashant Arya inaugurated it. After the inauguration, the MLA administered oath to the people present against the use of drugs. During this, live telecast of the national programme of Drug Free India Campaign held at Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar was done.

Students from various schools presented speeches, street plays and cultural programmes on the ill effects of drug addiction and misuse of social media. Expert doctors associated with the de-addiction campaign were also present on the occasion. The speakers expressed concerns over the rising trend of tobacco consumption and drug abuse among young people.   

At the end of the programme, the DM felicitated the participating students, artists and performers by presenting them with mementos and certificates.
