Tally reaches to 2881 in state; 120 recover on Tuesday, Death toll 41
After giving a brief respite, the novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) bounced back on Tuesday as the state health department reported 51 new cases of the disease on the day. With them the tally of Covid-19 patients jumped to 2881. Two patients of the disease also died on the day which further increased the death toll to 41 in the state. Meanwhile the state continued its fight with the pandemic as 120 patients of the disease recovered fully from the disease and were discharged from different hospitals of the state on Tuesday. A total of 2231 patients have so far recovered from the disease.
The state health department reported 28 new cases of the disease in Udham Singh Nagar district on Tuesday. Out of these patients 17 have a travel history from Delhi while one each has travelled from Punjab, Noida, Haryana and Maharashtra. Travel history of two patients was not available. In Dehradun 12 new patients were reported out of whom two are health care workers from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh. In Nainital four new patients were reported while two patients surfaced in Bageshwar. One patient each was reported from Chamoli, Champawat and Pauri districts. Two patients, a 63 year old male and a 22 year old female who were positive for the disease died at the Mahant Indiresh Hospital on Tuesday.
A staggering 50 patients of the disease were discharged from hospitals in Haridwar district after their recovery on Tuesday. Similarly 28 patients were discharged from Tehri and 25 from Dehradun districts. On the day six patients were discharged from Pauri, five from Bageshwar and three each from Chamoli and Rudraprayag districts.
The additional secretary, state health department, Yugal Kishore Pant said that reports of 1147 samples were found negative for the disease on Tuesday. He added that reports of 5709 samples are still awaited by the department. On the day, a total of 1412 samples were collected for COVID -19 testing. The authorities have so far taken swab samples of 69024 suspected patients for COVID-19 test. Out of the total samples taken, 4.74 percent samples have been found positive for the disease. The doubling rate of disease in the state has now increased to 48.23 days while the recovery percent in the state is at 77.44 percent.
Nainital district with 130 active cases is at number one spot in the table of active patients in the state while with 109 active cases Udham Singh Nagar is now at second spot. Dehradun is at third position with 99 active patients while with large number of recoveries on Tuesday Haridwar district now has only 70 active patients of Covid-19 and is at fourth spot. Pauri now has 48 active patients while Tehri has 31 active cases of the disease. Uttarkashi and Almora have 21 and 20 active cases of the disease while Bageshwar has 16 active patients left now. Pithoragarh has 13 active patients and Chamoli 12 active cases. Champawat now has seven active patients while Rudraprayag is at bottom of the list with six active cases of Covid-19.
The administration has declared 100 areas as containment zones to check the spread of infection in the state. Haridwar district has 68 containment zones while Dehradun 23, Tehri five, Udham Singh Nagar three and Uttarkashi one containment zones.
Rs 1267 lakh approved for setting ICUs in four hospitals
On the directions of chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, a sum of Rs 1267.40 lakh has been approved for establishing intensive care units in four hospitals as part of measures for protection from Covid-19. The approvals include Rs 356.70 lakh approved for Kotdwar sub district hospital, Rs 343.19 lakh for Ranikhet sub district hospital, Rs 274.51 lakh for Tehri district hospital and Rs 293 lakh for community health centre in Mussoorie.
