In a major accident near Purnagiri Dham in Tanakpur of Champawat district, a car ran over people on the road, killing at least five people while injuring eight. It is learnt that some people were waiting for bus at Thuligarh when a car came speeding down dangerously. The victims of the accident were rushed to Tanakpur hospital. Five of them died before treatment started. Others are being treated at the sub-divisional hospital in Tanakpur. Police are investigating the accident.
