31st ICPSU Chess Tournament concludes at THDCIL

The 31st Inter-Central Power Sector Undertakings (ICPSU) Chess Tournament, organised under the aegis of the Power Sports Control Board (PSCB), Ministry of Power, concluded at  THDC India Limited on the weekend.

THDCIL chairman and managing director Sipan Kumar Garg congratulated the winning teams and players for their performance in the tournament and appreciated the playing spirit displayed by all participants. He said that THDCIL remains committed to fostering a culture of sports and wellness, which contributes to holistic employee development and strengthens camaraderie across power sector PSUs

The closing ceremony was attended by chief general manager (HR–Administration & Corporate Communications), AN Tripathy, who congratulated the winning teams and players and appreciated the enthusiastic participation and sportsman spirit displayed by all the teams throughout the tournament.

A total of 11 teams from various power sector PSUs participated in the championship. In the Open Chess Championship (Team Event), Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) emerged as the winner, followed by Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) in second position, while THDC India Limited secured the third position. In the Open Individual Championship, Saurabh Biswas (Grid India) secured the first position, while Saurabh Dhiman (SJVNL) and Naga Pawan Kalyan Kumar (PGCIL) secured the second and third positions respectively.

In the Women’s Chess Championship (Team Event), PGCIL secured the first position, followed by NHPC in second position and Grid India in third position. In the Women’s Individual Championship, Lia George (NHPC) secured the first position, while Himanshi (PGCIL) and Kamlesh (PGCIL) secured the second and third positions respectively.
