3 villagers injured in bear attack in Salt area

Three people, including two women, were seriously injured in a bear attack in the Salt area of Ramnagar. They were rushed to the Ramnagar Hospital from where two were referred to a higher medical centre, given their worsening condition. As per information received, one Tari Ram aged about 48 years, resident of village Jakh Salt in Almora, was grazing cows near his house when a bear, sitting in ambush, attacked him. The beast hit him in the head and he was left bleeding profusely. On hearing his scream, the villagers gathered and chased the bear away. But before running away into forest, it attacked and injured Pushpa Devi (50) and Mohani Devi (52).
The forest staff who rushed to the spot sent the trio to Ramnagar Hospital. As the condition of Tari Ram and Pushpa Devi were critical, they were later referred to a higher medical centre.
