3 killed in separate road accidents in Rishikesh and Almora

Three people lost their lives and two others were injured in two separate road accidents that occurred early Wednesday in Rishikesh in Dehradun and Almora districts. In the first incident, two truck drivers died and one person sustained injuries in a fiery collision near the regional transport office in Rishikesh. The officials informed that the accident took place around 2 AM when a truck and a trolley collided, causing the trolley to catch fire.
The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), local police and fire services rushed to the spot after receiving an alert from the Rishikesh control room. Upon arrival, SDRF personnel led by head constable Arjun Pawar discovered that both vehicles were severely damaged.
One of the drivers had died in the fire inside the trolley, while the other driver, operating a truck mounted with a boring machine, also died on the spot. Both bodies charred beyond recognition, as per the officials. A third person, who was trapped inside the truck, was rescued in an injured state after an operation by the rescue teams and was rushed to a nearby hospital. The fire was brought under control by the fire service and the deceased were handed over to the local police for further procedures, as per the officials.
In a separate accident around 5:30 AM near Bhatrojkhan in Almora district, a Tata Max vehicle travelling from Delhi to Deghat via Ramnagar veered off the road and plunged into a deep gorge near Godi village. The vehicle reportedly went out of control while approaching Panuwadyokhan. The driver, Suresh, a resident of Sangam Vihar, New Delhi suffered critical injuries and was referred to a higher medical facility after initial treatment at a Ramnagar hospital. His co-passenger, Mohit Kumar, a resident of Timli Siyaldah village in Deghat, Almora, died on the spot. Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash, the officials said.
