All districts across the State will celebrate Chaitra Navratri this year as Nari Shakti Utsav from March 22 to March 30. The culture department has issued Rs one lakh each to all district magistrates to organise programmes of the worshipping goddess for the next nine days.

The secretary of the department HC Semwal said on Monday that the State will celebrate the auspicious occasion of Chaitra Navratri this year as Nari Shakti Utsav by worshipping nine forms of goddess Durga with rituals. He said, “Chaitra Navratri has been given special importance in the Veda and Purana. It has been considered the basis of self-purification and liberation. Worshipping goddess Durga in Chaitra Navratri removes negative energy and positive energy circulates all around.” Considering such widespread religious importance of Chaitra Navratri, religious and cultural programmes will be organised in all major goddess temples and Shaktipeeths across the State, said Semwal.

He said that the State government will conduct a special campaign to organise such programmes for nine days in Navratri which are symbols of the strength and power of mother power in all the major Devi temples or Shakti Peeths of all the districts in the State. Each district administration will organise religious programmes like Ramcharitmanas, Devi Gayan and Devi Jagran among others and will ensure women and girls especially participate in these events. Semwal added that DMs have been directed to form a committee at the district or block level to decide in which temple the administration should organise the religious programme for the next nine days.
