Mayor announces rewards for sanitation team if Dehradun gets under 50 rank in Swachh Survekshan 2021

Mayor Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’ has announced to reward each municipal supervisor and sanitation inspector with Rs 11,000 if Dehradun would get a rank in the top 50 cleanest cities of the country in Swachh Survekshan 2021. The field inspection by the teams of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) for Swachh Survekshan is around the corner and the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) has taken several initiatives like the door to door garbage picking service in new wards, anti-defacement campaign and cleanliness campaign to get maximum points during the forthcoming field inspection.

The corporation has even deployed 40 sanitation workers from Bijnor and Moradabad to maintain cleanliness in the city. Moreover, in order to encourage supervisors and sanitation inspectors to do their best for Swachh Survekshan 2021, the mayor announced on Friday that each sanitation inspector and municipal supervisor will get Rs 11,000 if the city ranks in the top 50 cleanest cities of India. Last year, Dehradun ranked at 124th position in Swachh Survekshan against 384th position in the year 2019 and considering MCD’s several initiatives this year, the mayor said that the city will surely get a better position this year.

As informed by the chief municipal health officer Dr Kailash Joshi, there are around 50 municipal supervisors and nine sanitation inspectors in the corporation and this step has been taken to encourage the team to perform better every day. Moreover, he further disclosed that the corporation is receiving around 7,000 feedbacks on daily basis through the Swachhata-MoHUA app as the locals are becoming aware of Swachh Survekshan. According to him, the corporation has received more than one lakh feedbacks so far which will help the city to get additional marks in the Swacch Survekshan. “We have received over one lakh feedbacks and we are sure that MCD will receive over three lakhs feedback easily by the end of March,” stated Joshi.
