1753 fined in one week under ‘Operation Lagaam’ in Doon

Dehradun police fined a total of 1,753 individuals in one week under ‘Operation Lagaam’ which targets boozing in public, rash driving, illegal modifications of vehicles and the use of black film on vehicle windows.

The senior superintendent of police (SSP), Dehradun, Ajai Singh said that police have taken action against individuals boozing in public places, transporting liquor, driving with black film on their windows, driving under the influence of alcohol, reckless driving and performing stunts. “Further, actions have been taken against those installing modified silencers on their vehicles as well as those using unauthorised hooters and nameplates,” he said, adding that the police station in-charges have been instructed to conduct continuous campaigns in their respective jurisdictional areas following the outlined guidelines. 

During this operation, a total fine of Rs 5.5 lakh was collected and 126 individuals were arrested in the week.
