16th Finance Commission team arrives in Dehradun

CM to chair meeting with commission today, public representatives & politicians to meet commission

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami received the 16th Finance Commission delegation headed by its chairman Arvind Panagariya at his residence here on Sunday. The delegation headed by Panagariya includes the commission’s members Annie George Mathew, Manoj Panda, Saumya Kantighosh, the commission’s secretary Ritwik Pandey, joint secretary KK Mishra and joint director P Amruthavarshini.
The chief minister is slated to chair a meeting at the secretariat on Monday wherein the State government will present its proposals to the Finance Commission. This will be followed by a meeting of the Finance Commission with representatives of urban local bodies, Panchayats and political parties. Cabinet minister Subodh Uniyal, chief secretary Anand Bardhan, principal secretary RK Sudhanshu and Finance secretary Dilip Jawalkar were also present during the interaction at the CM residence.
Earlier, the delegation was received by Uniyal on its arrival at the Dehradun airport. The team is staying at a hotel on Old Mussoorie Road, where the Finance Commission members were welcomed in the traditional manner to the beats of Dhol-Damau. It is pertinent to mention here that on Monday morning, the Finance Commission delegation will attend the meeting to be chaired by the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.
The State government will present its proposals and share details of its preparations with the Finance Commission in this meeting. After this meeting, the commission will hold a meeting with the representatives of urban local bodies, Panchayats and the representatives of political parties.
