1,625 HIV active cases at district hospital till May 2025: CMO

The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Dehradun, Dr Manoj Kumar Sharma said that as of May 21, 2025, there are a total of 1,625 active HIV cases registered at the ART Centre located in the Deen Dayal Upadhyay district hospital. He said this after a media report on May 20, 2025, which stated about the registration of 1,622 HIV cases at the district hospital.
Dr Sharma said that out of the cases registered at the ART Centre in the district hospital from 2006 to 2025, 1,614 are currently under active care. In the 2024-2025 financial year, a total of 87 new cases were registered at the ART Centre, of which 47 are from Dehradun district and the remaining are from other districts and States. For the 2025-2026 year, 14 new cases were registered, with eight cases from Dehradun district and six from other locations.
In the last four years, the number of cases registered at the ART Centre in the district hospital were 133 cases in 2021-2022, 184 in the year 2022-2023, 182 in the year 2023-2024 and 87 cases in 2024-2025.
Dr Sharma emphasised that the figure reported on the news portal does not reflect the current financial year’s statistics. Instead, it pertains to the total number of active care cases out of all registered cases over the past 20 years, he added.
