15th Finance Commission recommends Rs 89,845 crore for U’khand

The 15th Finance Commission has recommended Rs 89,845 crore for Uttarakhand. Chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Finance minister Nirmala Sitharam, 15th Finance Commission chairman NK Singh and all its members for this. Rawat said that this will considerably help in executing developmental schemes in Uttarakhand. The State has been getting the cooperation of the PM and Central government consistently, he added.

The CM said that the commission understood the view of the state and made its important recommendations. Provision of a big sum for PMGSY will enable road links to villages not yet connected by roads. Adequate fund has also been recommended for disaster management. This will definitely help in further strengthening the disaster management system in the state. Efforts for strengthening the Panchayati Raj institutions in the state will also get a boost, he added.

It is pertinent to mention here that of the Rs 89,845 crore recommended for Uttarakhand by the 15th Finance Commission, Rs 47,234 crore is the state’s share in central taxes. The state’s share in central taxes has been increased by 1.1 per cent. Further, Rs 28,147 crore revenue deficit grant has also been recommended for Uttarakhand. The state has received Rs 5,176 crore revenue deficit grant in the past. The Rs 28,147 crore recommended now is in addition to the amount received in the past. Considering the vulnerability of Uttarakhand to disasters, Rs 5,178 crore has been recommended for disaster management. Further, Rs 2,322 crore has been recommended in PMGSY. In addition to this, the 15th Finance Commission has recommended Rs 4,181 crore for local government, Rs 728 crore for health, Rs 25 crore for statistics, Rs 70 crore for judiciary, Rs 83 crore for higher education, Rs 277 crore for agriculture and Rs 1,600 crore under the state specific head. With a total Rs 42,611 crore grant in aid and Rs 28,147 crore revenue deficit grant, the commission has recommended a total of Rs 89,845 crore for Uttarakhand.
