158 new Covid-19 patients reported in U’khand on Sunday
Total number of Covid-19 cases in the state rise to 907
The number of novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) infected patients in Uttarakhand jumped to 907 on Sunday with the state health department reporting 158 new cases of the disease. Those found positive on the day included senior cabinet minister Satpal Maharaj and his family members.
On the day, 49 patients of the disease were reported from provisional state capital Dehradun while 31 cases surfaced in Nainital district. The health department reported 18 and 17 patients of the disease from Almora and Haridwar districts respectively. In Uttarkashi district seven cases of the disease were found while six patients were reported from Pauri district. Chamoli district reported four patients while three cases surfaced in Tehri district. One patient was reported from Rudraprayag district on the day. Incidentally 17 persons admitted in the Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) hospital on Sunday had no travel history. Similarly, 22 persons who were in contact with the former minister Amrita Rawat were found positive. On Sunday, a 24 year old Covid-19 positive patient, a resident of Garhi Shyampur died at AIIMS Rishikesh. This patient was suffering from burn injuries.
The additional secretary, state health department, Yugal Kishore Pant said that reports of 1063 samples were found negative for the disease on Sunday. He added that reports of 4231 samples are still awaited by the department. On Sunday, a total of 6133 samples were collected for COVID -19 testing. The authorities have so far taken swab samples of 30438 suspected patients for COVID-19 test. Out of the total samples taken, 3.43 percent samples have been found positive for the disease. A total of 1771008 people have so far downloaded the ‘Aarogya Setu App’ on their smart phones. The doubling rate of disease in the state is 5.45 days. The recovery percent in the state is at 11.24 percent.
Uttarakhand now has 797 active cases of the disease. The Nainital district is at top of the table with 236 active cases. With 48 new cases on Sunday, the provisional state capital Dehradun is now on second spot. The Tehri district is at third spot with 77 active cases while Haridwar has 61 active patients of the disease. Almora district is closing on to Haridwar with 60 active cases while Udham Singh Nagar has 35 active patients.
Pauri and Pithoragarh districts have 30 and 21 active cases respectively. Uttarkashi district has 20 active cases while Bageshwar and Chamoli districts have 16 and 15 active cases of the disease respectively. Champawat district has eight active cases each while Rudraprayag district is at bottom with seven active patients of the disease.
